What's going on
A class-action lawsuit called Caccuri v. Sony Interactive Entertainment has reached a preliminarily approved settlement worth $7,850,000. The suit claims Sony violated federal antitrust law by squeezing out competition in the digital game market, which the plaintiffs say pushed customers into paying more than they should have on the PlayStation Store.
The core complaint: Sony pulled game-specific digital voucher codes from third-party retailers like Amazon and GameStop. Once those disappeared, the PlayStation Store became pretty much the only place to buy a digital copy of a game, and the lawsuit argues that let Sony keep prices higher than they'd otherwise be.
Sony denies it did anything wrong and says class members aren't owed any relief. It's worth being clear here: the court has not ruled that Sony broke any laws. The settlement is a resolution, not an admission.
Who qualifies
To be part of the settlement class, you need to check these boxes:
- You purchased a digital game through the PlayStation Store
- The game was previously available through a game-specific voucher
- The purchase happened between April 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023
The eligible-games list is long and stacked with heavy hitters. Think The Last of Us Remastered, Bloodborne, No Man's Sky, Until Dawn, God of War III Remastered, NBA 2K18, WWE 2K17 through 2K19, the Jackbox Party Packs, and dozens more across Sony first-party and third-party publishers.
If you fit the class definition, you're automatically included. You don't need to file a claim to stay in.

Eligible games: You may qualify if you purchased any of the following digital titles through the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019 and December 31, 2023. Editions of the same game are grouped together.

How much money are we talking
This is where expectations need a reality check. That $7.85 million is the gross fund, not the amount that gets handed out to players.
Before anyone gets paid, several chunks come off the top:
- Attorney fees of up to 25% of the fund (roughly $1.96 million)
- Class counsel costs and expenses
- $30,000 in service awards split among the three named plaintiffs
- Settlement administration expenses
Whatever remains gets divided among class members per the court-approved Plan of Allocation. Given how large the eligible class is likely to be, individual payouts will probably land in the small-dollar range, anywhere from a few bucks to maybe low double digits, depending on how many people qualify and how purchases are weighted.
The exact per-person figure won't be finalized until after the court signs off.
How you get paid
If you still have an active PSN account, the money gets deposited straight into your PSN wallet at a later date. You don't have to do anything.

Key dates
The fairness hearing, where the court decides whether to approve the settlement, the payout plan, and the attorney fees, is set for October 15, 2026. Once that clears, payouts move forward.
Bottom line
